Cats in Crisis Thanet

We rescue and rehome cats in the Thanet area, with particular concern for elderly cats and ferals. Registered charity no. 1122296

Our shops

If you want to grab a bargain while supporting our charity, or if you are able to donate any saleable goods to support us, we have one volunteer run charity shop and two support shops that sell goods to raise funds to feed and look after the health of the animals in our care.

Charity shop – Ramsgate

Entirely run by volunteers, our shop at 64 High Street, Ramsgate sells bric-a-brac, books, DVDs, CDs, vinyl, clothing, jewellery and many other types of goods at cheap prices. Feel free to pop in and browse, and to ask our volunteers about the work we do.

We try to open Monday – Saturday, 10am – 4pm, on a best efforts basis.

Support shops – Margate and Cliftonville

There are also two support shops for our charity, which are run by ‘Help Animals Ltd.’ on our behalf and give Cats in Crisis a share of their profits.

They mainly sell good quality clothes, shoes, handbags, bedding, towels, curtains, bric-a-brac, and some furniture at cheap prices.

They are in:

Margate: 3 Market Square (between Argos and Morrisons)

Cliftonville: 284 Northdown Road

Help Animals Ltd pay all rents, rates, salaries and expenses for these two shops. Each month, we receive from them £500 or 10% of their monthly turnover, whichever is the greater amount. All cat food and money donations made to these shops come directly to us.

If you wish to donate

We are very grateful for any donations of cat food or of goods we can sell. There are some types of items we unfortunately can’t accept:

  • VHS tapes, audio cassettes, CD singles
  • very large furniture items
  • used duvets (pillows in clean condition are sometimes useful as cat bedding)
  • torn, soiled, or very worn clothing, shoes, towels or bedding
  • broken toys

This is because we can’t sell these items, and our volunteers get tied up in sorting through and disposing of them. Many thanks!
